Short n Sweet

Meeting is today!!! Just about to leave for it, but first! Cool story!

Last night a group of friends and I were hanging out at Original Joes having a "late snack"/second dinner of the night. I ordered a Thai Chicken Salad(AMAZING!! try it!) and it came with a slice of banana bread! My good friend, Josh, noticed the bread and asked me if I  had brought my banana bread with me to eat. The whole lot of us burst out laughing and our server came up in the midst of it all. Josh told our server how I was fundraising with homemade banana bread for my volunteer trip to Africa, etc and our server brought me a huge banana to contribute! LOL sweet! By the end of the night our server ordered a loaf!! Talk about AWESOME! Friends are amazing! Thought it was a grand story to tell!!

Happy Sunshine Day! I'll post after our meeting with new information!

When it Rains it POURS!(Did I mention I love the rain?)

Hooray!! When the Lord blesses you... he REALLY blesses you!

Hello loved ones!!

We have been fundraising with banana bread for just about two weeks now(one week of baking) and OH MAN! We are doing great! I want to give a HUGE thank you to everyone who's helping by purchasing some banana bread, YOU ROCK!

Every time I talk about the banana bread my heart is filled with love and gratitude to my amazing friend, Katie! She is doing so much for me, and helping me to fundraise! She's amazing and I want to give another HUGE thank you to her! She is just as passionate about this amazing volunteer experience as I am! <3 She is the main baker of these banana breads and mmmMmmMmm she makes yummy banana bread!

So, I have a few updates, small but still updates :]

t-shirts:

The fundraising with the t-shirts is finished! There was 30 orders of t-shirts! WOOHOO!! Thanks so much to all of you who ordered a t-shirt or two or three or ten! haha You are all amazing and I am very grateful for your love and support!

*NOTE* Please remember that when you do receive your t-shirts in April, I would REALLY appreciate it if you could take a picture of yourself with your shirt on so I can post the pictures and show all you amazing supporters!

Banana Bread:

We are doing amazing! YAAYY!!

You can purchase the Banana bread until the end of April! If you haven't placed an order yet, you can email: bread4africa@gmail.com and put in your order.

UPDATES:
There is a big meeting going on this Saturday, that we will finalize some things to do with the trip and hopefully I have will more updates to tell you all!

For those who have been anxiously awaiting my placement with an NGO, I'll let you know that it has been delayed due to the university getting a risk assessment officer to review the internship location and a few other things. So, we had to put off the placements, so the dean has just recently given us the "okay" to continue with our placements! I hope it won't be much longer, as I am getting anxious myself!

I have started to collect some little keychains and stickers and other little toys and toothbrushes to give to the people and the kids in Tanzania! I am hoping to get around to local businesses to see if they would like to donate anything to add to the items I am taking for the people!

It is getting really close to my 30 day countdown! Wow! Time is flying by rather quickly and I am loving every moment! I am getting increasingly excited as it gets closer and closer to this amazing opportunity!

I bid you farewell and speak to you soon! Thank you again loved ones!

Sickness can't stop my written words!

Hello dearest followers!

I am still battling with this crazy illness. It actually turned INTO the flu... yaaayyyy. Saw the doc today, and he confirmed this is the flu going around and the vaccines had my immune system low enough to get sicknesses like.... well like this one! Thankfully my profs at university are very understanding!

T-shirt orders are still at 20, currently! Possible more orders in the near future! Fabulous!

A special thanks to those who have donated toward my volunteer trip! I am full of love and thank you a hundred fold! I am so grateful and appreciative of your support! This is going to be amazing!

Soon to come!
We are starting to sell homemade banana loaves to fundraise!! I will post the official info in next post, but everyone start getting your grumbling tummies ready for some amazing banana bread!!!

Thanks guys! Until next time... I am going to go pass out

P.S. I am getting a website! yay!! Exciting!! I'll post it when it is up and ready for use!

Its better to be sick now, than while in Africa!!

Hello everyone!

So, I've been sick TWO days now from my vaccine. I guess thats a good thing, but talk about unfortunate timing! Makes me appreciate the comfort of my bed, and the people around who care for me!! It will be something else while I'm out there! I pray for no illnesses while out there, and am grateful I am sick here in my home, then out in Tanzania!

T-SHIRT Update!:

tshirt orders are up to 20! we are rockin it! Thanks to all the wonderful people who are purchasing shirts to show their support! You are all appreciated!

It is going to be short today, as I am writing this in between coughing fits. Thank you all for your love and support! It gets more exciting as the days go by!

Until next time!

Changes! Shots! Deposits! 17!

Greetings!

So, we've changed my location! Fun right? Not a big deal, the NGOs are still in Dar es Salaam. So instead of Arusha, I will be staying in Dar and volunteering there. Good news!

I am about to go for all my shots today, how exciting! The anticipation is tremendous! haha jokes! It is exciting though, knowing I am getting one step closer!

We had a great meeting at our Prof's house last night. We got to talk to previous interns and get a bit of a picture as what to expect while out there. That is where the location change was decided. I also got my deposit in! woohoo! We also received a packing list... that thing is a mile long!!!! yikes!

T-Shirt UPDATE:

We have 17 t-shirts ordered! YOU ALL ROCK! <3 much love! I love all the love! 333 to go! Deadline is March 26th! Don't miss out on the t-shirts!

On a final note, I met my travel partner. Good news, no? She travels a lot so I am pretty happy about that! Most of you know, this will be my first time getting a stamp in my VISA! Love it!

All you travel bugs, I'd love some advice to help make my travel experience easier and more enjoyable!

Until next time!

Updates!

Hey Team!

It has been a crazy few weeks with midterms and a lot of assignments and projects due; I love school! There are a few tasks I have completed in regards to my trip to Africa for those of you wanting to keep tabs on my preparation.

Before I do that I have an overwhelming amount of gratitude that I'd would like to express, and though I cannot properly convey it in literature form, I hope it is partially conveyed or understood in this message.I am so grateful and truly appreciative for all the love and support from friends and family and family of friends(wow!)! I have received nothing but excited and supportive responses and for that I thank you all. Most importantly I thank God for this wonderful opportunity! Oh how he has blessed!

Now, for the promised tasks accomplished:

I have my appointment booked for March. 7th to get all the shots I need. I also got my doctor appointment booked for the 8th to get my prescriptions for malaria, etc.

I got a quote from BCAA for travelers insurance! Got to stay safe!! haha

T-shirt Update!!!:
The shirt sales have been coming along slower than expected, but we are still rockin it with a total of 12 ordered! Thank you loved ones!! You guys make me so happy! There is still time to reach the 350 goal by March. 26th!! Woohoo!!!!

It's thank you time again... I'll try to be a little less mushy!

I have been TRULY blessed, and want to give a huge THANK YOU to my best friend, Katie, who is supporting me in more ways than one with getting prepared for this trip! I will give more formal "thank you"s in the near future, but collectively I would like to again, thank all of the wonderful people who have thus far offered to support me! I just feel so overwhelmed with love and support I had to say it again. And now again... THANK YOU!!
